This stuff is great. I've been making this for several years. I always use an 8 oz. carton of cool whip and a 16 oz. carton of cottage cheese. I add a small can of drained mandarin oranges, a small can of crushed pineapple, a jar of drained maraschino cherries, and nuts, either chopped pecans or sprinkle it with some of those nuts that come in a can that you can get to put on sundaes. I usually get fat free/low fat cool whip & cottage cheese, and sugar-free jello. You can't taste the difference. My husband also likes to add coconut flakes.

Every time I'm asked to bring a salad somewhere, I bring this, using orange Jello and a can of drained mandarin oranges. It's not overly sweet & has no strong flavors but just enough texture. It's not a recipe to impress someone, more like a comfort food that everyone likes.

5 stars for ease and taste. I used lime jellow and followed the recipe as written. Next time I'll stretch out and try adding fruit and different flavors of jello to find a favorite.

I make this using peach jello and sliced peaches. It is great.

Definitely the classic old school jello salad, loved the throwback vibe of the recipe, I used raspberry jello (the superior flavor for this imo) and small curd cottage cheese.

I was born and raised in Utah.
I was a graphic designer for ten years for a local school district. I have since moved on but still enjoy doing that for fun.
I love to cook, read, listen to music, craft things. I don't think I really have a favorite cookbook.
But if I had to pick it would be one that was written up by women in the area with home recipes. I think those are the best. Probably one of the reasons I enjoy Recipezaar so much.
